The Bubonic Plague in the 14^th Century killed about 50 million, which was 25% of the European population then. The Spanish Influenza in 1918 killed about 50 to 100 million, 3% to 5% of Planet Earth. World War II killed about 70 to 85 million or 3% of the 1940 population of about 2.3 billion. World War I killed about 20 million. Mankind has been undergoing regular Biblical cleansing through the centuries. (Wikpedia).

The specter of a global pandemic today will exceed all these figures by far because the world is far more crowded today. The speed of infection is unimaginable in the coronavirus because 1) “not airborne” is questionable (what if a sneeze vapor dries up in midair?), 2) capable of human-to-human infection, 3) no known vaccine yet, and 4) rapid mutation making vaccines obsolete fast.

Coronivirus is a wake-up call. Can our prayers reverse it? Some say it is a tall order, but others with faith say, nothing is impossible for the Lord in his infinite mercy. So we gather once more in the Internet, a million strong perhaps, asking first, for forgiveness for our sins, and second, for salvation from a looming global pandemic. Let us all pray together to Jesus of Divine Mercy from our keyboards and keypads.

The chart below shows an increase of about 100% or double in infected cases in China alone (mostly in Wuhan) within 24 hours from Jan. 31 (6,700) to Feb. 1 (11,800). (China News Asia or CNA). This is because, at a certain critical mass, the momentum soars to the heavens. According to the law of geometric progression, this rate will increase sooner than we think to 500%, then 1,000%. Deaths are still low, based on the Feb. 1 figure, 259 out of 11,791 or 2%, but this will eventually increase rapidly also. Having a million infected may be just around the corner in a month or so, if the Wuhan explosion is replicated elsewhere. Thailand, Singapore and Japan are the first three candidates.

We may be at the crossroads of what the Book of Revelation calls the era of tribulation as described in the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – wars, pestilence, death, and famine. All these seems to be happening all at once in 2020, the year of the rat.
