Her name is Candace Christiansen and she is independently homeschooling her 11 year old granddaughter Caitlin, while fighting a war with metastatic ovarian cancer. The news of the metastasis came only a few weeks ago, and has seriously upset Caitlin’s emotional stability. Candace is Caitlin’s sole caregiver: – “I was diagnosed last year and had 3 major abdominal surgeries within 10 months plus a host of other hospitalizations for complications. I went through 2 rounds of chemo during that same time, and I’ve just begun round 3. The chemo agent they’re using this time is very toxic to the heart, and I’ve asked for prayer protection around that issue. – It’s been a long, difficult year, but God has graciously guided us through. I achieved a remission, which lasted 16 months – something no one thought possible. The metastasis came as a shock, since all scans, biopsies, blood work, and physical exams were perfectly normal 3 months ago. I have been led to a host of complementary natural therapies which I’m adding along with the chemo, with the hope that they can help protect my body against the destructive aspects of chemo. – In all of this, we have seen miracle after miracle and are humbled by the gifts we’ve been given.
