The PH Principle
PH refers to the acidity-alkalinity of a substance. An extremely acidic substance such as muriatic, ph 14, can eat up the hardest iron. Extreme alkalinity, ph 1, will do the same. Acidity and alakalinity are chemically opposed and neutralize each other like heat neutralizes cold.
Because we mainly eat acidic food, such as red meat, alcoholic beverages, coffee, etc., our physical system, especially our blood, is also mainly acidic, making us prone to diseases such as arthritis, gout, diabetes, ulcers, and other organ diseases, of the kidney, liver, pancreas, gall bladder. It is also a form of predisposition to cancer, because, as we grow older, our immunity system gradually weakens.
Uric-acid from food, such as internal organs of animals (liver, bone, bone marrow) and seeds (mongo, lentil, all types of beans), settles in joints and hampers mobility. Again, this is more so for older people, whose organs are less capable of handling such toxins. Go to a nutritionist to know more details about this.
PH Balance
The key is balance, ph 7, which is neutral, neither acidic nor alkalinic. So the strategy is to keep the ph of your body chemistry, especially the blood, balanced, through diet. Alkaline water, now commercially produced, has recently become popular as a cure-all for arthritis, gout, diabetes, etc. But there is something better and simpler – cheap alkalinic food, namely fresh organic fruits and vegetables. So the basic nutrition principle is water plus fruits and vegetables as the key to long life, and meat, alcohol, fats, fried food, processed chemical food, and sodium as the key to diseases, including cancer.
Massive vitamin intake plus a diet of purely fruits and vegetables has been noted by cancer doctors to have healed cancer. So, a cancer prevention diet simply means heavy on fruits and vegetables, no meat and oil and fried food.
The BFV Diet Formula
“Blendered Fruit Vegetables” (BFV) is the suggested anti-cancer anti-arthritis anti-gout formula that strengthens the immunity system and keeps PH balance.
BFV is called the ‘detox’ formula for the liver, those who have cirrhosis or jaundice or are getting there.
Diet formulas must be fluid, not rigid, because of the varying nutritional needs of individuals. Younger people do not need as much fruits and vegetables as old people. There is a different diet formula for the healthy and strong versus the sick and weak, and the cancer-prone. Also, metabolism, high or low, dictates how much carbohydrates are needed in diet formulation.
The strategy is to make your own formula by trial and error and with consultation with experts, especially doctors and nutritionists, based on your needs. You need to know the essentials of nutrition. For example, if you stop taking carbohydrates such as rice or bread, you may end up with low blood sugar and a general weakness. A diet completely without fat or oil is also not good. The key is moderation. Here is the BFV diet formula, which requires plenty of fresh fruits and water –

Take one banana, apple, and mango, chop them up to become the BASE of your mix.

Add complementarily two or three other chopped raw vegetables or fruits as your ADD-ON, such as cucumber (remove seeds if you don’t want uric acid), carrots, melon, watermelon, ripe jackfruit, bell pepper (remove the seeds) or pak choi (in Chinese or pechay in Pilipino). I have tried cabbage and it is also good. There are also vegetables known for curative or healing powers such as celery and parsely. Do not include malunggay (moringa) leaves or okra because these will thicken the mix and make it harder to drink because it becomes slippery like saliva. Do not use too much celery because it has concentrated ingredients and ‘takes over’ the smell and flavor of the formila. Employ trial and error on your add-ons.

Consider availability, price, taste, thickness and ‘drinkability’ as a basis for selecting inputs to your BFV. You will discover that certain items are very good and some are not so good for the mix. Dragon fruit and avocado are rich in anti-oxidants which are good for the heart. But they can be expensive.

Once you have chopped up your BASE and ADD-ONs, place them in the blender pitcher, and add room temperature water or milk or combination (cold is not recommended unless you keep excess for the next meal) until the level is up to the topmost of the heap. Some prefer the mix liquefied and some just blender it slightly so you can chew portions. Milk makes it thicker and creamier. Most prefer plain water, others a 50-50 water-milk mix.
How to take BFV
Your ‘perfect mix’ will eventually evolve from your trial and error. Be aware of the INGESTION PRINCIPLE – the hungrier you are, the faster you ingest what you take in. If you take a glass of wine or beer when hungry, you will be tipsy or drunk faster and more intensely. To maximize the health nutrients of your BFV, take a glass or two 30 minutes before every meal, when you are hungriest. This doubles the effect and nutritional value of the BFV because it is not diluted with other food when being ingested. Some even get a ‘rush’, a sudden feeling of well being and strength. This also dissipates your hunger and prevents overeating. Once you have employed your BFV diet, you will notice the effect and change in you. Find out for yourself, rather than this article telling you.
Begin your day with spiritual nutrition. Pray and/or meditate to keep your outlook and attitude good for the whole day, to keep in check tension, temper and impatience, which predisposes you to cancer. Goodwill, serenity, a smile, patience, forgiveness prevent future cancer.
Breakfast is the most important meal. As soon as you wake up, take a glass or two of BFV. Let that sit in your stomach for 30 minutes before taking your main breakfast. Suggested is a heavy breakfast with rice or bread, eggs and/or fish, or cereals instead of rice – corn flakes or oatmeal for fiber. Acidic coffee is better as a last item when your stomach is already alkalinic. Take only one or two cups of coffee a day. For lunch and dinner, take one or two glasses of BFV 30 minutes before eating. One pitcher of BFV should last you one day. Take plenty of water, the best cleansing and detox agent, the whole day.
In extreme cases, if you have cancer or stage-2 diabetes, serious gout or arthritis, make BFV not just a pre-meal drink but the meal itself. You can take as much as two to three glasses as your main lunch and/or dinner meal. Avoid too much fat, alcohol, meat. In this extreme cases, increase BFV intake to two to three or even five pitchers per day.
Some die hard advocates say BFV should be taken fresh, within 20 minutes, otherwise oxygenation destroys active ingredients and enzymes. But blending three times a day may be too much trouble. A compromise is to make one pitcher and take half immediately fresh for breakfast and the rest refrigerate for the afternoon and evening glasses.
To complement your BFV diet, take multi-vitamins, vitamin e and c, vitamin b for liver deficiency, fish oil, virgin coconut oil, etc.
Eating is a Habit
Eating is habit forming. If you are used to eating five cups of rice a day, if you take three, you will feel hungry faster. It will take time for your body to adjust to your new diet. At the start of your BFV diet, you may feel weak or hungry faster. You can take oat meal or corn flakes or a bit of rice and fish as a ‘filler’ during BFV meals. A carnivorous person shifting to vegetarian will have to adjust to the ‘withdrawal’ effects.
Every change requires a bit of pain. Endure the weakness or hunger a bit without being too harsh on yourself as to make you faint from hunger or lack of sugar or carbohydrates. You can also spread your meals. Take five to six small meals rather than three big ones. Finally, your heavy meal does not have to be breakfast. You can shift them around depending on your body’s mood and situation. Eventually, you will be needing less food by habit if you take the BFV diet.
Finally, find time at the end of the day, after all the tension and tiredness to ‘meditate’. Thinking of good things, laughing are forms of meditation. Playing with your grand children is meditation. Sitting quietly to absorb a mesmerizing sunset or reading a good book are forms of meditation. These are your spiritual youth serum. Let the feeling good take over the feeling bad or tired before you sleep.
