The Virgin versus the Vatican

This strange story is a phenomenal event in the modern history of the Catholic Church. Vatican cardinals have been trying to suppress a devotion to the Blessed Virgin for 70 long years, but have failed. Many of them have passed away. Today, the devotion to Our Lady Mediatrix of All Grace is as resilient as ever, with chapters spread nationwide. The Virgin has triumphed over the Vatican in the end. The persistent Filipino Marian devotees were behind the triumph.

Featuring – The Virgin’s role in Asian Evangelization and the ‘conversion’ of China.

A short history. Our Lady appeared to Sr. Teresing Castillo, a nun in the Carmelite Convent in Lipa City, Philippines, way back in 1948. This was followed by the Miracle of the Rose Petals, which fell from the sky or out of nowhere, in the Convent, in Sr. Teresing’s room, and finally in a gathering witnessed by thousands.

Religious images were mysteriously etched in detail on soft petals, impossible to do by machine or by hand, because the etchings would bleed and fade on soft material. There were images of the Holy Trinity, the Last Supper, Our Lady of Fatima with Pope Francis, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, etc. View the rose petals for yourselves =

Vatican cardinals ordered the destruction of the petals, the very hard evidence they needed in the investigation on the authenticity of the apparitions, together with statues, novena pamphlets, and precious documents. But a few rose petals survived and are now secretly kept by lay devotees somewhere.

HISTORY OF THE FAILED 70-YEAR SUPPRESSION OF THE VIRGIN MEDIATRIX.

Distortion of the Result of the First Vatican Investigation.

In the early 50s, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith (CDF), the highest office looking into the authenticity of miracles, ordered the investigation of the Mediatrix apparitions by a committee of eight Filipino Bishops led by then Bishop Rufino Santos, later to become a Cardinal.

In their report, the entire committee unanimously declared the miracles as authentic. But the Papal Nuncio secretly ordered the eight bishops to change their decision to non-authentic, under veiled threats of reprisals and excommunication. This was discovered later when one of the eight bishops, on his death bed, admitted he was coerced, as reported by relatives present. The other Bishops recanted subsequently.

The Vatican Cardinals tried to hide their embarrassment when the report came out. They insisted the apparitions were not authentic, when actually they ordered the destruction of all the evidence. According to a Filipino priest close to Pope Francis, there were plans for a second investigation, but it never pulled through. What for, when the evidence was destroyed?

Through the decades, Bishops/Archbishops of Lipa supporting the Mediatrix devotion were exiled to remote dioceses or forced to resign. Statues, novena pamphlets, the miraculous rose petals, and the diary of visionary Sr. Teresing were all destroyed, the very evidences needed for investigation.

With the Filipino clergy, in fact the entire Philippine Church, forced into silence, the laity, out of reach from the clutches of the Vatican Cardinals, took over, defying the suppression. They organized federations, and distributed statues and pamphlets nationwide. The Mediatrix devotion all the more spread like wildfire.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) later declared that Mediatrix devotion shall be allowed even while the authenticity of the apparitions was still in question. This opened the floodgates of Marian devotion. The Church could not disallow prayer and devotion to the Virgin.

The Devil Tortured Visionary Sr. Teresing.

Sr. Teresing kept a diary of her encounters with the Virgin. This was included in the massive destruction of all evidences about the Mediatrix, the statues, the novenas pamphlets and stampitas, the rose petals. But Sr. Teresing wrote a second type-written diary before she passed away, given secretly to relatives. She described her harrowing experiences of torture – skin bruises, foul smell and efforts of the devil to yank her away from the Mother Superior, her source of strength and counsel.

Satan, in panic over the future role of Our Lady Mediatrix in the evangelization of Asia, tortured Sr. Teresing but failed to separate her from the Virgin. This role of Marian evangelization through the millennia is profoundly described by Saint Pope John Paul II below.

The Strategic Role of the Philippines in the Evangelization of Asia.

The Philippines plays a strategic role in the evangelization of Asia, being the only Christian nation in the region. In fact, by ‘accident’, the Mediatrix has set foot in China. The Chinese Government requested George Ty of Metrobank to develop two villages near Nanjing in China. Ty built a chapel there with a Mediatrix shrine, recommend by his architect, who happened to do work for the Carmelite Sisters in Lipa.

That chapel is an omen perhaps of the future ‘conversion’ of China, the emerging superpower, the largest economy in Asia. ‘Conversion’ does not mean to Christianity, but to a change of heart, towards the halt of persecution of Christians in China, goodwill to its Asian neighbors, fostering economic cooperation rather than military intrusion. Indeed, what a US nuclear carrier fleet cannot do for peace in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), Our Lady Mediatrix perhaps can. What bullets cannot achieve perhaps rosary beads can.

Mediatrix as a Continuation of Fatima.

The Mediatrix is considered by Marian scholars as a continuation of Fatima. Evidence is the original miraculous Mediatrix statue in Lipa shedding tears of blood when Fatima visionary Sr. Lucia was dying, as witnessed by a Marian devotee. (Source – the book Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace, by Rene C. de Jesus). The original statue was hidden in a cellar and survived destruction. It is now cloistered in the garden where the apparitions occurred at the Carmelite Convent, in full view of pilgrims and devotees on a second floor). That statue was based on a dream of the Carmelite Mother Superior, who guided and corrected the carver to follow her dream from memory.

The miracle of the sun in Fatima in 1917 was replicated exact to the day and hour in 2017, in Matalam, North Cotabato during a concelebrated Mass on the Fatima 100-year anniversary.
